  iamonline modules for CPD
These interactive anaesthetic modules(iamonline) have been produced as part of a risk management and continuing professional development(CPD) initiative of the ASA and are designed to assist ASA members to satisfy the requirements of the new CPD program.
  • Practice Evaluation
    • Activities directly related to your clinical practice
      Eligible activites include a patient experience survey, a multi source feedback, a peer review of practice or a report of clinical audit findings. A minimum of two activities are required per triennium. Each activity attracts 20 credits making the requirement 40 credits in total. Forms and tools to assist with this requirement are available on the ASA website.

    • Other clinical evaluation activities up to 60 credits can be claimed no minimum.
       - Case discussions/conferencing, Morbibity/mortality meetings, Morbidity/mortality meetings, Incident reporting/monitoring, Review of patient care pathways, Hospital inspections/accreditation, Medico-legal reports/expert witness, Root cause analysis, Team training scenario within own work environment (with usual work team) or Assessor for international medical graduate specialist workplace-based assessment.

      2 credits/hour.

  • Knowledge and Skills
    These activities include may include Lectures, presentations or online learning. Presenting at regional/national/international conferences/meetings. Short course, workshops, problem-based learning discussions and small group discussion. Courses toward a formal qualification, Teaching including preparing and delivery of education session, Workplace-based assessment of trainees (including provision of feedback), Review of ANZCA/FPM Fellows or trainees, Examining, including writing and marking questions, Journal reading, Grant proposals and trials, Reviewer, grant applications or participation in ethics committees, Publication of a manuscript in a peer reviewed journal or book chapter, Reviewer/editor of journal, Participation in committees, Hospital attachments, sabbatical or overseas aid work.


    • Interactive modules - These modules are in the form of a small group discussion and are interactive. In these modules you may enter feedback to the authors and either agree or disagree with the answers given. You have your say and can express your own opinions as the right and wrong method to approach a problem just the same as in a face to face workshop. In this way a module can be reviewed and updated to reflect the latest evidence.





  • Emergency Responses
    A minimum of two different activities is requird per triennium, delivered by a recognised provider
    • Management of "can't intubate, can't oxygenate"
    • Management of cardiac arrest
    • Management of anaphylaxis
    • Management of major haemorrhage.
